Curriculum Overview

The curriculum emphasizes a balanced approach between lecture-based instruction and hands-on practice. It encourages experiential learning through diverse teaching strategies and a progressive structure that enhances students’ cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains in nursing. Students are guided to apply critical thinking to provide individualized and holistic care for individuals, families, groups, and communities throughout their health and illness journeys.

The program also fosters lifelong learning abilities, enabling students to collaborate effectively with healthcare teams and fulfill their roles as competent nursing professionals in a rapidly changing society. Core professional competencies are gradually integrated into students’ development throughout the curriculum.

The curriculum is learner-centered, offering human-centered nursing education that focuses on:

• Professional and practical skills
• Holistic care capabilities
• Courses in geriatric and community long-term care to train home care professionals
• Nursing informatics, evidence-based nursing, and biostatistics to develop effective clinical practitioners
• Integration of wearable device programming, artificial intelligence (AI), and smart nursing

These are supported by the university’s New Taipei Branch (future site of the College of Medical and Health Sciences), featuring:

• Smart campus infrastructure
• 5G network
• Advanced simulation facilities including smart wards, operating rooms, ICUs, long-term care centers, home hospice settings, and remote smart home care systems
• AR/VR specialty labs for training in smart nursing

Additionally, the department organizes international exchange programs during winter and summer breaks, providing students with global exposure and opportunities to develop up-to-date core competencies in nursing.
