International Collaboration Plans
The Department of Nursing plans to collaborate with overseas sister universities that have signed Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with Yuan Ze University and offer nursing programs. These partnerships will include discussions and planning for international exchange student programs.
As a priority, the department will work with the University of Utah (USA), which maintains a close relationship with Far Eastern Memorial Hospital, the university’s primary teaching hospital. Through academic diplomacy and the MOU signed between Yuan Ze University and the University of Utah, the department has outlined the following short-, mid-, and long-term plans:
A. Short-Term Plan (1–2 Years)
- Upon the establishment of the department, various international exchange activities will be actively initiated.
- The Dean and Chair of the College of Nursing at the University of Utah will be invited to visit and engage in academic exchange with faculty members.
- The Chair of the Department of Nursing at Yuan Ze University will lead faculty members to visit the University of Utah to discuss academic collaboration and student exchange programs.
- These visits aim to deepen mutual understanding of nursing curricula and teaching methods across different cultures and to explore future directions and goals for cooperation.
B. Mid-Term Plan (3–5 Years)
- Faculty from both institutions will hold virtual meetings to co-design summer workshop content.
- Criteria will be established for selecting students to participate in the summer programs.
- Joint summer camps will be held for students from both universities.
- The effectiveness of the summer programs will be evaluated.
C. Long-Term Plan (Beyond 5 Years)
- In addition to summer camps, faculty will lead students on clinical observation and practicum visits to the University of Utah.
- Faculty from both institutions will co-develop specialized courses for student learning.
- Discussions will be held on cross-institutional elective courses, dual-degree and articulation programs, and international exchange scholarships.
- Collaborative international research projects will be developed.
