Core Competencies

The Department of Nursing at Yuan Ze University aims to cultivate competent nursing professionals who, upon graduation, possess the following ten core competencies:

Originally based on eight essential competencies in nursing education:

  • General Clinical Nursing Skills
  • Ethical Literacy
  • Critical Thinking
  • Communication and Teamwork
  • Compassion
  • Professional Responsibility
  • Lifelong Learning

In addition, two competencies have been added to reflect the university’s values and the development of smart healthcare:

  • Creativity – aligned with Yuan Ze University’s motto.
  • Smart Nursing – in response to the College of Medical and Health Sciences’ focus on intelligent healthcare.

Graduates of the department are expected to demonstrate the following abilities:

  1. Ability to assess and promote the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities based on evidence-based nursing.
